There’s beer, cocktails, wine, sake, kombucha, cider & more rotating through the taps, so it becomes a casual way to unwind without waiting for service. The restaurant offers approachable food in a relaxed space, and the whole environment feels easygoing.

We added conveniences like free welcome drinks, keyless check-in and free parking make the experience straightforward for travelers who want things nice, easy & fun.

Fun & Unique Hotel Rooms

The hotel has twelve rooms, each with their own quirks. Some face the mountains (Fishers Peak or Simpson’s Rest) and get that soft early light in the morning; others look out onto Main Street and feel more connected to the downtown buzz.

Inside, the rooms vary with quite different layouts, different furniture, some with larger bathrooms, others with interesting architectural features left from the 1880s.

Every room includes a Marshal Amp Mini fridge,  super fast WiFi, comfortable bedding, and a mix of vintage and southwestern décor.

People often say they enjoy that the rooms aren’t predictable, and that the variety makes returning for another stay feel fresh.

Voted Best Hotel in Trinidad Colorado

People who stay with us often mention something similar: that The Well feels a little different from the moment they walk in. Not fancy in a corporate way, but personal, relaxed & refreshing compared to the usual chain hotels off the highway.

The “best hotel” recognition we were awarded from The Trinidad Chronicle seems to come from that mix of historic bones, a lively taproom & rooms with charm instead of uniform layouts.

Some guests return every time they’re passing through Southern Colorado, and others come back for weekend trips just because the place left an impression.

Boutique Hotel in Trinidad CO

Fishers Peak Suite Room 4

People describe The Well in different ways—colorful, quirky, artistic, warm but “boutique” probably sums it up best. No two rooms look alike, partly because the building is from the 1888s and partly because we like it that way.

Instead of identical furniture and neutral walls, you’ll see original floors, interesting art, and little details you won’t find at a highway hotel. Travelers who prefer staying somewhere with a bit of personality usually end up here.

Our boutique hotel feels closer to staying in a lived-in historic building than somewhere built last year, which is exactly what many people like about it.

Historic Trinidad Colorado Hotel

Bloom Block Trinidad Colorado

The building (originally named The Bloom Block) dates back to the 1880s, and you notice the history right away old wood, tall windows, or  (custom doors to match 1888 coming soon) & that classic Victorian architecture that Trinidad is best known for. While the rooms and bathrooms were fully renovated, the overall spirit of the place was left intact.

Guests of our historic Trinidad Colorado hotel often mention that the mix of old design and the newer, eclectic touches makes the stay feel warmer, almost like the building has stories built into the walls. It’s a rare blend: authentic history without giving up comfort, and modern style without stripping away the character.

History of the Building

The structure that now holds The Well Hotel has been part of Trinidad for well over a century. Built in 1888 it has lived several lives, different businesses, different uses such as a grocery store, sign store, music store, most recently a Hallmark store and originally a hotel.

There was a long stretch where the building just waited for someone to restore it. When renovations started, many original features were uncovered and kept, which gives the place its unmistakable character.

Today, visitors get to stay in a piece of Trinidad’s past while enjoying modern comforts layered into it. It’s rare to find a hotel that feels this connected to the history of the street it sits on.
